New figures out today for the number of hazardous non-food products recalled in 2015 confirm the urgent need to tighten product surveillance rules in Europe. The European Commission received over 2,000 notifications last year. The figures are from the 2015 European Commission Rapid Alert System for No-Food Products (RAPEX). As part of its Digital Single Market strategy, the European Commission has released proposals which address consumer rights in the digital era1. The European Consumer Organisation (BEUC) welcomes the rights put forward to protect consumers who purchase digital goods and who try to access and use their on-line subscriptions for films, TV programmes and series when travelling across borders.
