The European Parliament today agreed its position on the Consumer Credit Directive (CCD), a decision that will leave consumers unprotected in the face of credit offers from Big Tech companies and large retailers.

The European Parliament has given its green light to the European Commission’s plans to label nuclear energy and fossil gas as ‘green investments’. For BEUC, this is unacceptable institutional greenwashing and will prevent consumers from investing sustainably.

BEUC has launched a complaint over a concern that the No-Nutriscore Alliance and Brussels-based consultancy Must & Partners breach the EU Code of Conduct on transparency. BEUC argues that while the European Commission is drafting its position about a future EU-wide front-of-pack nutrition label, it is unfair that some authorised representatives (Must & Partners) may access EU decision makers to voice the concerns of an entity they represent secretly (the No-Nutriscore Alliance).

Tech giant Google is unfairly steering consumers towards its surveillance system when they sign up to a Google account, instead of giving them privacy by design and by default as required by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
