New vision to protect energy consumers as Europe moves towards climate neutrality
BEUC NEWS - 14.10.2020
BEUC and the Council of European Energy Regulators (CEER) published today their Vision for Energy Consumers up to 2030.
Looking ahead towards 2030 and the EU’s 2050 sustainability and climate neutrality objectives, the CEER-BEUC vision ‘Let’s ASPIRE,’ sees a future where effective policies deliver on both our climate objectives and consumer rights protection.
The six principles - Affordability, Simplicity, Protection, Inclusiveness, Reliability and Empowerment – build on the original CEER-BEUC 2020 Vision.
As Europe begins its deep transformation to move towards a decarbonised and sustainable future, BEUC and CEER decided it was time to renew and expand the principles of their 2020 Vision. The 2030 vision thus goes a step further with the inclusion of ‘inclusiveness’ to ensure no one is left behind in the energy transition.
The Vision also includes a call to action for governments, industry, regulators, consumer bodies and authorities to deliver for consumers.
