BEUC at France’s AI Summit with official side event
BEUC will be taking part in the international AI Action Summit in Paris on Monday 10 and Tuesday 11 February to represent the European consumer movement along with our French member UFC-Que Choisir, Norwegian member and co-chair of the Transatlantic Consumer Dialogue Forbrukerrådet, and Consumers International.
BEUC’s message will be that the advent of AI systems represents an exciting opportunity for consumers and society but that there must be guardrails to protect consumers and action to ensure healthy competition in the sector that fosters plurality and cuts dependencies.
We will also be organising a closed-door, invitation-only, official side event with leading policy-makers, regulators and civil society representatives from across the world to discuss how to make sure the AI landscape retains a healthy dose of competition and the AI industry remains accountable through effective cooperation mechanisms.
BEUC’s Agustín Reyna will also be attending the dinner hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron at the Elysée Palace on Monday which will be attended by heads of state, leading businesses and a handful of civil society representatives.
