BEUC NEWS - 15.01.2016

The Better Regulation Watchdog – of which BEUC is a member – has reacted to the new Inter-institutional Agreement on Better Law-making, finalised by representatives from the European Commission, Parliament and the Council in December.

Overall, the Watchdog welcomes the fact that the Commission proposal has been considerably toned down, and thus is more balanced and protected from political whim.

The Watchdog expresses its concern over the possibility for deregulation. With reference to the recent car emission scandal, it criticises that regulation is still portrayed as “necessarily problematic”.
