Consumer PRO Workshop: Building Consumer Education initiatives across Europe – Apply by 17th October
“Consumer PRO” - an initiative of the European Commission implemented by BEUC (the European Consumer Organisation) - is a European-wide project to build the capacity of the European consumer movement.
Under the programme of the project, we are inviting you to apply to take-part in a multi-session online workshop on Consumer Education at the end of November 2022.
This is an opportunity for you to:
- Deepen your knowledge and skills to deliver effective consumer education activities, for both adults and younger audiences,
- Learn about key consumer education priorities under the EC’s consumer agenda, namely digital safety, financial literacy and sustainability,
- Network and exchange with fellow consumer education experts from Consumer Organisations, National Authorities and European Consumer Centres (ECC’s) across Europe,
- Plan future consumer education initiatives – for the local, national or pan-European level.
The workshop will consist of three online sessions from 09:30 -13:00, as follows:
- Session 1 - Friday 18th November - “An introduction to Consumer Education: what it is, who is doing it, why it’s important”
- Session 2 - Wednesday 23rd November - “Inspiration and successful consumer education in practice: Focus-in on financial literacy, digital safety, sustainability”
- Session 3 - Friday 25th November - “Preparing consumer education projects of the future: Practical action-planning for local, national and European initiatives”
What to expect?
The course will be delivered using a variety of input methods, including guest expert speakers and trainers delivering interactive exercises and facilitating exchange of best practice, as well as action-planning for future consumer education projects. Each session will have informal networking moments and opportunities for you to share your own case studies or questions/challenges.
Each session will take place on Zoom, in English, from 9:30 to 13:00 CET. Participation is free of charge, and it is expected you take part in all sessions.
How to apply?
The training is open to consumer professionals active in the field of consumer education, or wishing to develop consumer education programmes and activities, from Consumer Organisations, National Authorities and European Consumer Centres (ECC’s). The workshop is aimed primarily at those working in consumer education on a daily basis, whether this be in planning education programmes or in directly running and delivering consumer education work.
We kindly ask you to select staff member(s) in your organisations who, as a priority, would benefit from the training. To apply, please take a few minutes to complete this application form by Monday 17th October.
As places are limited to up to 30, a selection process will take place to assure a balance between profiles, seniority, gender and geography. Your application letter will remain a key determinant in this process.
You will receive an email informing you of your selection, within 2 weeks of the close of the application process.
